Where to Stay in Seville

Seville is one of Spain’s most visited cities, and finding the right place to stay requires some thought because the city’s neighborhoods vary dramatically in character, noise level, and value.

The Santa Cruz neighborhood is the obvious choice for first-time visitors. It sits right next to the cathedral and Alcázar, meaning you can walk to the major sights within minutes. Hotels here range from charming boutique properties in converted townhouses to solid three-star options on quieter side streets. Expect to pay between 90 and 160 euros per night for something decent during spring and autumn, which are peak seasons. The trade-off is noise. Santa Cruz is genuinely loud at night, especially on weekends, so request an interior-facing room when you book and confirm this directly with the hotel rather than assuming the platform will pass the message along.

El Arenal, sitting between the cathedral and the river, offers slightly better value with easier access to tapas bars along Calle Betis across the water in Triana. It feels a touch less touristy while remaining completely central. This is arguably the sweet spot for mid-range travelers who want convenience without paying the full Santa Cruz premium.

Triana itself is worth considering if you want a more local atmosphere. The neighborhood has excellent restaurants, a proper market, and far less pedestrian tourist traffic. The slight inconvenience is crossing the river to reach the main monuments, but it is a genuinely pleasant fifteen-minute walk.

Avoid the area immediately around Santa Justa train station unless you are arriving very late or leaving very early. It is functional but completely lacking in atmosphere and adds unnecessary journey time to everything you want to do.

The single most common booking mistake in Seville is not accounting for Semana Santa and Feria de Abril. Hotel prices triple during these weeks and availability disappears entirely months in advance. Many travelers book what looks like a reasonable rate and arrive to find the city transformed into something barely recognizable. Check the calendar before assuming any spring dates are ordinary. Book early and confirm your cancellation policy carefully.
