# Visiting Trogir in June
June in Trogir is genuinely one of the better times to go, and I say that as someone who’s seen the place in peak August and nearly lost my mind in the crowds.
The weather sits around 27°C, which is warm enough to swim comfortably and walk around without dying, but not the suffocating 35-degree furnace that July and August bring. You’ll get some rain – about 35mm across the month, which sounds alarming but usually means a dramatic afternoon thunderstorm that clears within an hour rather than days of grey misery. Pack a light rain jacket, use it once, forget about it.
The town itself is actually navigable in June. Trogir’s old island centre is genuinely tiny – UNESCO-listed, beautiful, and absolutely gridlocked by mid-summer when cruise ships deposit hundreds of people into streets barely wide enough for two people to pass. In June, early in the month especially, you can actually stop and look at the cathedral without someone’s selfie stick in your face. You can sit at a waterfront cafe without feeling like you’re eating in an airport terminal.
Everything is open. Restaurants, boat tours, the cathedral treasury, kayak rentals – the tourist infrastructure is fully running by early June. Prices haven’t quite hit peak season levels either, so you’re getting the functioning version of the place without the full financial punishment.
Who’s this perfect for? Couples, architecture enthusiasts, anyone who wants to use Trogir as a base for day trips to Split (20 minutes away) or the nearby beaches without returning to chaos each evening. It’s less ideal if you’re specifically chasing that buzzing late-night scene – that energy really does ramp up in July when the younger crowds arrive in force.
One practical tip: arrive by ferry or bus rather than driving. Parking around Trogir is a genuine nightmare even in June, and the stress will colour your entire arrival. The bus from Split drops you right at the bridge to the old town. Start relaxed, stay relaxed.
