# Ibiza in March: The Island Before It Wakes Up

March in Ibiza is a genuinely strange experience, and whether that’s good or bad depends entirely on what you’re after.

The weather is mild but unpredictable. You’re looking at around 17°C on a decent day, which feels pleasant enough if the sun is out, but the island picks up a fair amount of rain this time of year — nearly 25mm across the month — and when a grey Atlantic front rolls in, it can feel pretty bleak. Pack layers and don’t bank on sitting outside for every meal.

The club scene is essentially non-existent. Ushuaïa, Pacha, Amnesia — all closed, or running skeleton operations at best. If you’re coming for the legendary parties, you’re about three months too early and you’ll be disappointed. Full stop.

What you do get is the island stripped back to something more honest. San Antonio without the stag parties. Ibiza Town’s old quarter — Dalt Vila — quiet enough to actually appreciate it. Empty beaches where you can walk for twenty minutes without seeing another person. Some of the inland villages and local restaurants are genuinely lovely when they’re not buried under summer tourists.

The practical reality is that a fair chunk of businesses are still closed for the winter. Some restaurants, beach clubs, and smaller hotels don’t reopen until April or even May. You’ll find enough open to eat and sleep comfortably, but don’t expect full choice.

So is it worth going? For a certain type of traveller, absolutely. Couples who want somewhere quiet and scenic, hikers, people doing a digital detox, photographers, anyone who actively dislikes crowds — March Ibiza is quietly brilliant. The light is soft, the landscapes are green from winter rain, and flights are cheap.

For clubbers, hen dos, or anyone wanting the full summer experience: genuinely, wait.

**Practical tip:** Call ahead before visiting any specific restaurant or attraction. Google opening hours in March are often wrong, and there’s nothing more deflating than showing up to a closed door on a quiet Tuesday.
