# Ibiza in April: Honestly? It’s Pretty Great (If You Know What You’re Going For)
Let me save you from a disappointment right upfront: if you’re imagining foam parties, Pacha at 4am, and wall-to-wall bronzed bodies, April Ibiza will genuinely confuse you. The clubs aren’t open yet. The beach bars are mostly shuttered. And that’s exactly why a certain type of traveller absolutely loves it.
The weather sits around 20°C, which sounds perfect until you’re actually there and realise the sea breeze has opinions. You’ll wear a light jacket in the evenings, maybe more. Sunshine is real and genuinely lovely, but so is the occasional rainy afternoon – nearly 30mm falls across the month, usually in short, moody bursts rather than week-long drizzles. Pack a layer. Pack an umbrella you won’t feel stupid carrying.
The island feels like it’s stretching and yawning after winter. Some restaurants are open, some aren’t – you’ll occasionally walk down a promising street and find half the places still locked with handwritten signs about opening in May. Ibiza Town itself is charming in this state, the old walled quarter feeling genuinely historic rather than just backdrop for Instagram. The north of the island, around Santa Gertrudis and Sant Joan, is always more authentically local anyway and barely notices the seasonal rhythm.
Beaches are quiet. Not empty, but quiet. You can actually sit on Ses Salines without navigating around a thousand sunbeds. The water is cold enough that swimming takes commitment, but people do it.
Crowds are minimal by any reasonable definition. Flights and accommodation are significantly cheaper. The island has actual space to breathe.
**Who should go in April:** couples, hikers, people who like good food and wine without noise, anyone who finds peak-season Ibiza actively hellish.
**Who shouldn’t:** anyone whose holiday depends on the nightlife infrastructure being fully operational.
**One practical tip:** Book restaurants in advance even now – fewer places are open, so the good ones fill up faster than you’d expect for a quiet month.
