# Palma de Mallorca in June: What It’s Actually Like
June is genuinely one of the better times to visit Palma, and I say that as someone who’s also been there in August and spent most of that trip fantasizing about going home.
The weather sits around 27-28°C, which feels warm without being punishing. You can walk around the old town in the afternoon without feeling like you’re being slowly cooked. There’s occasional rain – just over 23mm across the month – which usually means a brief dramatic thunderstorm rather than grey drizzle hanging over everything for days. It clears fast and the air smells incredible afterwards.
Crowds are building but haven’t hit their August peak yet. The Cathedral, the old town streets, the markets – everything is accessible without requiring military-level planning. Restaurants still have tables. You can actually see the art in Es Baluard without someone’s elbow in your face. Beach clubs are open and operational but you’re not fighting for sunbeds at 7am.
Everything worth visiting is fully open by June. Boat trips are running, the beach bars are staffed, and the evening restaurant scene is properly alive. The nightlife crowd has arrived but it hasn’t completely taken over. Families, couples, and older travellers all coexist reasonably comfortably.
**Who is June actually good for?** Honestly, most people. It’s particularly good for anyone who wants proper summer heat and atmosphere but isn’t a masochist about crowds. Families will find it manageable. Couples wanting something romantic rather than chaotic will enjoy it. Hikers and cyclists should go in May instead – June is getting warm for serious outdoor exercise in the hills.
**One practical tip:** Book accommodation earlier than you think you need to. June feels like the “sensible” month so everyone with the same “avoid August” logic has converged here. The good mid-range places in the old town disappear faster than you’d expect.
Is it worth it? Yes, genuinely. It’s Palma working properly, before the whole island temporarily loses its mind.
