# Hurghada in April: What It’s Actually Like

April is a genuinely good time to visit Hurghada, and I’ll tell you why without overselling it.

**The Weather**

Honestly, April is one of the more comfortable months on the Red Sea coast. Temperatures typically sit around 28-32°C during the day, which is warm but not the face-melting heat of July and August. Evenings cool down nicely, so you’re not lying awake sweating at 2am. Rainfall is essentially meaningless here – Hurghada is desert, and April sees almost nothing. The sea temperature is climbing toward its summer peak, usually around 23-24°C, which means comfortable swimming without a wetsuit. Wind can pick up occasionally, which divers and snorkelers should factor in.

**The Crowds**

April sits in an interesting middle ground. European school holidays haven’t fully kicked in yet, though Easter week gets noticeably busier and prices spike accordingly. Outside of Easter, you’ll find the resorts reasonably populated but not overwhelming. You’re largely sharing space with European package tourists and some domestic Egyptian visitors heading down for long weekends.

**What’s Open**

Everything. This isn’t a seasonal destination that closes down. Dive centres, snorkelling boats, desert safari operators, the waterparks, the strip of restaurants along Sheraton Road – all running normally. Ramadan timing shifts yearly, so check whether it overlaps with your trip, as this can affect restaurant hours and general atmosphere during daytime hours.

**Is It Worth It, and For Whom?**

Absolutely worth it for divers and snorkellers – the visibility is typically excellent and the reefs are genuinely spectacular. It’s also a solid choice if you want reliable sunshine without the brutal summer heat. Families do well here in April. If you’re expecting cultural depth or historical richness, Hurghada isn’t that place regardless of the month.

**One Practical Tip**

Book your liveaboard or dive boat in advance if Easter falls during your visit. Spaces genuinely fill up, and last-minute options are either overpriced or the boats nobody else wanted.
