Look, if someone asked me when to visit Antibes, I’d probably say June without much hesitation — and then immediately add a few caveats, because nothing is perfect.

Warm enough that you’ll absolutely be in shorts and wanting to swim, but not the suffocating 35°C wall of heat that hits in July and August when you start resenting every decision that brought you to the South of France. Crowds are building but haven’t peaked yet. Early June still feels relatively manageable. The markets at Cours Masséna are properly functioning, restaurant terraces have space, and you can actually walk around the old town without feeling like you’re in a human traffic jam. By late June you’ll notice it filling up considerably — French school holidays begin, and everyone has the same idea you did about beating the August rush.

Everything is open. This matters more than people realise. The Picasso Museum, the ramparts walk, boat trips along the coast — all running properly. Some smaller restaurants close in winter or keep odd hours in spring, but June you’ll find everything trading normally.

Who is this actually for? Honestly, couples and adults who want atmosphere without chaos. Families who swim confidently, since the sea hits around 22°C — refreshing rather than warm. Anyone who values wandering and eating well over guaranteed sunshine every single day.

Is it worth it? Yes, genuinely. It’s probably the most balanced version of the Riviera experience before the whole thing tips into expensive, crowded madness.

**One practical tip:** Book accommodation earlier than you think you need to. June feels like the shoulder season psychologically, but it stopped being that. Leave it until April and your options get thin fast.
