Where to Stay in Budva

Budva is one of the most visited spots on the Adriatic coast, and during summer the town genuinely earns its reputation for crowds. If you’re staying at a mid-range budget, you have good options, but where you put your head down matters more here than in most coastal towns.

The Old Town is the most atmospheric place to stay and walkable to everything, but it comes with a serious noise tax. Bars run until 3am and the stone walls bounce sound in every direction. If you book here, push hard for an interior-facing room and check that the property has air conditioning, because the narrow streets trap heat badly in July and August. Mid-range guesthouses in the Old Town run roughly 60 to 90 euros per night and the quality is inconsistent, so read recent reviews carefully rather than relying on star ratings.

Slovenska Obala, the main beach boulevard, is convenient but feels impersonal and prices reflect the location without always delivering value. The area around Becici and Rafailovici, just a couple of kilometres south of the Old Town, is genuinely worth considering for mid-range travellers. You get better hotel infrastructure, slightly more breathing room, and a less frantic atmosphere. Regular minibuses connect you to the Old Town easily and cheaply.

Avoid booking anything marketed as “sea view” without confirming exactly what that means. A sliver of Adriatic between two concrete buildings is technically a sea view, and plenty of properties charge a premium for exactly that. This is probably the most common booking mistake people make in Budva, paying extra for a view that disappoints on arrival.

Budget travellers should look at guesthouses in the residential streets slightly inland from the Old Town, where family-run rooms drop to 35 to 50 euros. Mid-range hits a sweet spot in the 70 to 110 euro range if you stay near Becici. Higher-end travellers will find the best value at boutique hotels on the Budva Riviera rather than inside the town itself.

Book at least two months ahead for any July or August dates. This is not optional advice.
