# Albufeira in June: The Sweet Spot Before the Madness
June is genuinely one of the better times to visit Albufeira, and I say that as someone who’s also been there in August and spent half the trip queuing for mediocre seafood pasta.
The weather sits around 28 degrees with barely any rain – maybe one brief shower across the whole month if you’re unlucky. It’s warm enough that you’re absolutely swimming, genuinely comfortable on the beach for hours, but without that aggressive July heat that has you retreating inside by midday. Evenings are lovely. You’ll want a light layer after dinner but that’s it. It genuinely feels like summer without punishment.
Crowds are building but haven’t peaked yet. The Old Town is busy on weekends, the Strip – that wonderfully chaotic stretch of bars near Oura Beach – is operating at maybe 70% chaos rather than full capacity lunacy. You can actually get a table at decent restaurants without a reservation made three days earlier. The main beaches get full by 11am, so arrive early or walk fifteen minutes to find breathing space. Falesia Beach, slightly outside town, stays manageable longer into the day.
Everything is open. That’s worth saying clearly because shoulder season sometimes catches people out with closed restaurants or reduced hours. In June, the entire operation is running – boat trips, water parks, beach bars, clubs. You’re not missing anything.
Worth visiting for: couples, groups of friends in their late twenties and thirties, anyone who likes sunshine and beach life without feeling actively hostile crowds. Families with school-age children often can’t come pre-July anyway, but if you can, June is genuinely excellent for them too.
Less ideal if you’re hoping for budget prices – June isn’t cheap anymore. It’s not August expensive, but the low-season deals are gone.
**Practical tip:** Book your accommodation before May. June in Albufeira crossed some threshold in recent years where decent places near the beach disappear fast. Leave it late and you’re either overpaying or staying somewhere that smells of old carpet.
