Visiting Dahab in October

# Dahab in October: The Sweet Spot Nobody Talks About

October is genuinely one of the better times to visit Dahab, and it doesn’t get nearly enough credit for it.

The summer heat has finally broken by this point. Temperatures sit somewhere in the low-to-mid thirties early in the month and ease toward the upper twenties by the end of October. After the brutal July and August temperatures that make simply walking around feel like a punishment, October feels almost merciful. Evenings cool down noticeably, which means you can actually sit outside at one of the seafront restaurants without quietly suffering through your meal.

Rain is basically a non-factor. Dahab is desert. You might see a brief shower once or twice across the whole month, but it’s not something that should influence your planning in any meaningful way.

Crowds are pleasantly manageable. The European summer rush has cleared out, and the serious winter influx hasn’t arrived yet. You’ll find the dive centres operating fully and happy to see you without the frantic booking chaos of peak season. Accommodation is available, prices are more negotiable than August, and the whole town has a slightly more relaxed energy. The backpacker and long-term traveller crowd starts drifting back in, which gives Dahab back some of its slightly scruffy, unhurried character.

Everything is open. This isn’t a destination that hibernates in shoulder season, so you won’t arrive to find restaurants shuttered or rental shops closed.

Who is October genuinely ideal for? Divers and snorkellers especially. Visibility in the Red Sea is excellent, water temperature is still warm from summer, and the Blue Hole and Canyon are accessible without fighting through crowds of boats. It also suits anyone who wants to hike in the surrounding mountains without the heat being actively dangerous.

Who might hesitate? Anyone chasing pure beach lounging might prefer November when it cools further but remains comfortable.

**Practical tip:** Book your dive courses at least a few days ahead. October marks the return of serious divers and PADI courses fill up faster than the quiet town atmosphere suggests they would.
