Let’s be straight with you: August in Fuerteventura is hot. Genuinely, properly hot. We’re talking 28-32°C most days, intense sunshine, and a UV index that will absolutely destroy you if you’re not paying attention. Rainfall is essentially a non-event – you might see a few millimetres across the entire month, possibly nothing at all. This is one of the driest places in Europe, and August is firmly in the baked-earth season.

The wind is the wildcard. Fuerteventura is famously windy, and August often brings the trade winds with real attitude. Some days it’s a welcome relief from the heat. Other days it’s sandblasting your legs on the beach and knocking drinks off tables. **Is it worth it?** For families with school-age kids who have no flexibility on timing – yes, absolutely. The island handles the crowds reasonably well, the sea is warm and calm enough for children, and there’s plenty to keep everyone occupied. For surfers and windsurfers, August can be excellent depending on conditions. For anyone hoping for a peaceful, uncrowded escape – honestly, consider April or October instead.

**One practical tip:** book your hire car well in advance, not just your accommodation. August car rental in Fuerteventura sells out or becomes eye-wateringly expensive last minute, and without a car you’re fairly limited to wherever your resort is sitting.
