# Rhodes in July: Beautiful, Busy, and Brutally Hot

Let’s be straight with you — July in Rhodes is peak everything. Peak sun, peak crowds, peak prices, and peak “why did I book the beach bed next to a group of eighteen lads from Leeds” energy.

The weather is genuinely spectacular if heat is your thing. You’re looking at around 32°C most days with almost no rain — that 5mm figure basically means one brief shower the entire month, probably at 3am while you’re asleep. The sun is relentless and the sea is warm enough to feel like a bath by mid-month. If lying horizontal near saltwater is your primary goal, July delivers hard.

Rhodes Town itself is absolutely heaving. The Old Town — which is genuinely stunning, medieval walls and all — gets so congested by midday that wandering through it feels less like exploring history and less like shuffling through an outdoor shopping centre. Go before 9am or after 8pm and it transforms completely into something magical. Everything is open, every restaurant is running, boat trips are fully operational, and the nightlife in Faliraki is, well, exactly what you’d expect.

The west coast beaches stay windier thanks to the Meltemi, which is either a blessing or annoying depending on whether you’re trying to read or kiteboard. Lindos gets absolutely swamped — the walk up to the Acropolis in that heat with tour groups is genuinely punishing.

**Is it worth it?** For families with school-age kids who have no choice about timing, yes absolutely — the infrastructure is there, nothing closes early, the sea is perfect for children. For couples wanting romance and breathing room, honestly consider May, June, or September instead. For solo party travellers, July is exactly your scene.

**One practical tip:** Book any boat trip, particularly to Symi island, at least two days ahead. They sell out completely in July and turning up at the dock hoping for a spot is a reliable way to waste a morning feeling disappointed in the harbour.
