Look, November in Portorož is not the postcard version. The Adriatic is grey, the famous promenade has a melancholy, end-of-season feeling, and that 10.8°C average temperature means you’ll want a proper jacket rather than anything you’d describe as a coat. Expect around 60mm of rain across the month, which in practice means frequent drizzly days rather than constant downpours. There’s something almost cinematic about it, if you’re in the right mood. For families expecting beach activities or anyone craving a buzzy atmosphere, honestly, no. Go in May instead.

The Slovenian coast is tiny and you can combine Portorož with Piran, a ten-minute walk away, quite easily. Piran actually suits November rather well. The medieval streets feel atmospheric in the low light and there are fewer tourists competing for the same narrow alleys.
