# Brač in July: What It’s Actually Like
Let me be straight with you: July on Brač is hot, busy, and absolutely not a hidden secret. The island gets genuinely crowded, particularly around Bol and the famous Zlatni Rat beach, where you’ll be sharing that gorgeous shifting pebble spit with what feels like half of Central Europe. Germans, Czechs, Poles, Italians — everyone has figured out that Brač is beautiful, and they all arrive in the same four-week window.
That said, the weather is legitimately excellent. Average temperatures sit around 25-26°C, the Adriatic is warm enough to swim in for hours without that initial gasp of shock, and you’re looking at virtually no rain — maybe 5mm across the whole month. The sun doesn’t mess around, though. By midday the limestone reflects heat back at you like an oven door, and anyone who isn’t properly hydrated and hatted will feel it.
Everything is open in July. Restaurants, boat rental places, the olive oil museum in Škrip, the donkey sanctuary, bars that stay loud until 2am in Supetar. The ferry from Split runs constantly and you won’t struggle to find it, though you might queue for it. This is peak infrastructure, peak prices, and peak everything.
Is it worth it? Honestly, it depends on your personality. If you love a lively atmosphere, can book accommodation well in advance, and don’t mind paying summer prices for a cold Karlovačko, you’ll have a brilliant time. The island genuinely earns its reputation — the interior villages like Pučišća and Nerežišća are stunning and often quiet even in July, because most tourists never wander that far from the water.
If you’re easily irritated by crowds, go in late September instead. You’ll thank yourself.
**One practical tip:** Rent a car or scooter immediately after arriving. The bus connections between villages are sparse and unreliable, and the best beaches and viewpoints are only truly accessible once you’re not depending on anyone else’s schedule. Book it before you leave home — they genuinely do sell out.
