# Gozo in November: The Honest Version

November in Gozo is genuinely lovely, but you need to walk in with the right expectations rather than a highlight reel in your head.

The weather sits around 19-20°C, which sounds perfect on paper. And it mostly is – warm enough for walking and exploring without sweating through your shirt, cool enough that you actually want to move around. The catch is that 93mm of rainfall, which lands Gozo firmly in its wet season. That doesn’t mean two weeks of relentless grey misery. It typically means bright, clear mornings, gorgeous light, and then a dramatic Mediterranean downpour rolling in that can last a few hours before clearing out. The sea is rarely swimmable for most people – technically possible, but you’ll be the only one trying.

The crowds essentially vanish. This is the main event for November visitors. The Azure Window is gone anyway, but Dwejra, Xlendi, Ramla Bay – you’ll have them almost entirely to yourself. Village streets feel like they belong to the locals again, which is actually when Gozo is most itself. You’ll get genuine conversation in bars rather than transactional tourism.

Most restaurants and accommodation stay open, though some smaller places close or reduce hours. Worth checking ahead for anything specific. The big sites – Ggantija temples, the Citadel in Victoria – operate normally and are genuinely more enjoyable without summer queues.

Is it worth going? Yes, absolutely – for a specific type of traveler. If you want hiking, photography, history, food, and quiet, November Gozo is underrated and honestly better than August. If your holiday depends on pool days and guaranteed sunshine, you’re pushing your luck and might end up frustrated.

**Practical tip:** Pack a decent waterproof layer, not just a light cardigan. When the rain comes, it comes properly, and getting caught on a clifftop walk without one makes for a miserable couple of hours waiting it out in the car.

Go for the atmosphere, not the beach. November rewards that approach generously.
