April in Kyrenia sits in that slightly unpredictable sweet spot where winter hasn’t fully let go but summer hasn’t arrived yet. Temperatures typically hover somewhere in the mid-teens to low twenties Celsius, which means comfortable walking weather but genuinely cool evenings where you’ll want a jacket. Rainfall is possible — April can still throw a grey, drizzly day at you without much warning — so don’t pack exclusively for sunshine. That said, when April does deliver a clear day, and it often does, the light here is genuinely beautiful. The mountains behind the harbour look sharp and green, and the sea has that deep blue quality that disappears once the real heat arrives.

The crowds are manageable, which is honestly one of the better reasons to come now. Some beach facilities and water sports operations are still setting up for the season, so if your trip hinges on sunbathing and swimming, manage expectations accordingly — the water is still cold.

This is a good month for people who like wandering without an agenda, history enthusiasts, hikers, and anyone who hates crowds more than they hate the occasional cloudy afternoon. It’s less ideal if you’re sold on a beach holiday or need guaranteed sunshine to enjoy yourself.

**Practical tip:** Bring layers you can actually remove and reattach throughout the day. A morning hike in the Kyrenia mountains can start cold enough for a fleece and end warm enough to wish you’d worn a t-shirt. Packing light on this specific detail will annoy you.
