# Cagliari in November: The Honest Version

November in Cagliari is genuinely mild by northern European standards, but don’t let that fool you into packing light. Thirteen degrees sounds reasonable until you’re sitting outside a café in a damp wind coming off the lagoon, wishing you’d brought something warmer than a hoodie. The 60mm of rainfall tends to arrive dramatically rather than consistently – you’ll often get three gorgeous sunny days followed by one where the sky absolutely opens. It’s Mediterranean weather doing Mediterranean things.

The city itself feels completely different from the summer version. The historic Castello quarter, which is frankly exhausting to navigate when it’s heaving with tourists and 35 degrees, becomes genuinely pleasurable to walk around. You can actually stop and look at things. Locals reclaim their city noticeably in November – the restaurants around the Marina and Villanova fill with people eating proper meals, not just aperitivo crowds, and you’ll hear far more Italian than English.

Most of the main attractions stay open, though hours often shorten, so check ahead rather than just turning up. The Archaeological Museum and the Roman amphitheatre are accessible. Some smaller beach-adjacent businesses around Poetto shut down entirely, but honestly there’s little reason to head to the beach in November anyway.

What’s genuinely lovely: the light. When it’s clear, November light in Sardinia has a quality that summer simply doesn’t – golden, low, dramatic. The flamingos at the Molentargius lagoon are often more visible this time of year. Markets and local festivals around Sant’Andrea and the lead-up to the holiday season give the city a lived-in warmth.

Is it worth visiting? For the right person, absolutely yes. If you want beaches, cocktails, and buzzing nightlife, you’ve picked the wrong month. But if you like wandering cities at your own pace, eating well without booking three weeks ahead, and paying significantly less for accommodation, November Cagliari delivers.

**Practical tip:** Pack layers you can actually waterproof. A light rain jacket takes up almost no space and will save at least one day from being miserable.
