Visiting Dahab in April

Visiting Dahab in April

# Dahab in April: What It’s Actually Like

Here’s the honest picture: April is genuinely one of the better months to visit Dahab, and I don’t say that about everywhere.

**The weather situation** is the first thing people ask about, and the answer is pleasantly straightforward. April sits in that sweet spot after winter’s occasional chill and well before summer becomes genuinely oppressive. Daytime temperatures run roughly in the mid-to-upper twenties Celsius, warm enough to sit outside all day without effort but not so brutal that you’re retreating indoors by noon. Evenings still carry a slight coolness, which most people find welcome rather than uncomfortable. Rainfall is essentially a non-event in Sinai at this time of year – you’re unlikely to see a drop the entire trip. Wind can appear, particularly around the lagoon area if you’re into windsurfing, which is either a feature or a bug depending on your plans.

**The crowd question** is more interesting. April sees a noticeable uptick compared to the quieter winter months, partly due to European spring breaks and Easter holidays. The town feels alive without feeling overrun. Restaurants are open, dive shops are fully staffed and running regular schedules, and Blue Hole gets its fair share of visitors on weekends. It’s busy enough to have energy, quiet enough that you can still get a table at Nirvana without planning three days ahead.

**What’s open** is essentially everything. This isn’t a shoulder season where half the town is shuttered. Dive operations, snorkeling trips, desert safaris, the Bedouin camps up in the mountains – all running properly.

**Is it worth going in April?** For divers, yes, absolutely. Visibility in the water is consistently good and the sea temperature is comfortable for extended time underwater. For families and couples wanting a relaxed beach holiday with genuine character rather than resort polish, also yes. Budget backpackers will find the vibe welcoming. Party tourists might find Dahab too mellow regardless of month.

**One practical tip:** Book your dive courses ahead of time. The good instructors fill up faster than you’d expect in April, and walk-ins sometimes get disappointed.
